Vicki has lived in District 4 her whole life and has attended local schools from K-12. Her elementary school was Maple Elementary School, which was shut down in her second year. The students were segregated by neighborhood into 6 different Fullerton Elementary Schools. Laguna Road Elementary was her designated school. She then attended Ladera Vista Junior High School where she joined choir. She later attended Fullerton High School where she participated on the drill team.
A higher education has given her knowledge and problem solving skills suited perfectly for the school board. Receiving her A.A degree in Liberal Arts from Fullerton College B.A. in Psychology from San Diego State University, Vicki continues to teach her human behavior. An M.A. in Guidance Counseling Education from Loyola Marymount University trained her in directing resources for solution. Finally earning an ED.d in Education with an emphasis in Organizational Leadership has shown her the importance of system design change management and Local policy. It provided insight into how government policy and practice can help the community. The board can run more efficiently with better leadership fighting for inclusion and transparency.
Vicki toured world wide singing and recording with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and many other professional artists. Vicki has also sang as the headliner at the Orange County Women’s March in 2017 and 2018 with a crowd of 20 thousand people,.the Orange County Labor Federation annual award dinner, as she has been the entertainment at Senator Connie Leyva’s annual Birthday Fundraiser in 2017 and 2018.
Vicki has dedicated many years to the Fullerton College Foundation providing Scholarships to Fullerton College Students. City council appointed Vicki to the Fullerton Public library as a board of trustee member. Vicki currently works at Florence Crittenton Services of Orange County which work with probation teens and children from Department of Social Services, and also works at a Community College in the Counseling Department. Dr. Vicki Calhoun, stands as a very accomplished individual. Acquiring her doctorate in education would be an amazing achievement by itself, yet Vicki has done so much more. After growing up singing with the church choir, she later went on to record and tour with platinum selling band, Red Hot Chili Peppers. Vicki held a seat on the executive board for Fullerton College Foundation, which awards scholarships to students for 6 years. Vicki was also on the public library board of trustees which was an appointed by city council. She hopes these scholarships help young student reach their highest potential. Most recently, Vicki has headlined the Women’s March performance stage in 2017 and 2018 helping give women a strong voice.
